The default color palettes for newborn babies is often split between blue for boys and pink for girls. But our favorite photo sessions are the ones where the parents dare to break outside of the two-color party lines and create a custom newborn photo session around a different color. A popular alternative for girls is purple. The lighter shades of purple carry a lot of that femininity that people associate with pink, while the darker shades, which rely heavier on the red side, can evoke a strong sense of power.
